Giddings Goes to Navasota

by Mike Organ

Giddings takes on playoff bound Navasota Friday night. The Rattlers are undefeated in district play and will go as the largest school representative, since they have 200 more students than any other school in the district. Giddings’ Joseph Glenn and Deon Hickey are a serious one-two punch. Glenn has 1,328 yard rushing this season and Hickey has 870 rushing and receiving.

Navasota’s Kadarius Baker has 2,003 yards passing thus far into the season. Soloman McGinty and Austin Collins are Baker’s prime receivers. The Rattlers handed Smithville its first loss of the year last week and hope to top the Buffs this week.

Giddings is in a point scenario, if LaGrange beats Smithville. If Smithville wins, the Buffs will go as the second place team and Smithville as #1. If LaGrange wins by more than three, Giddings will be the first place team in the small school division and LaGrange as two. If LaGrange wins by one or two, Smithville goes as one and Giddings as two.
