Rev. Reuel Cooper

October 5, 1933 - October 26, 2011)

Rev. Reuel Cooper was born October 5, 1933 in Waco, Texas to Roy Edgar and Frances (Stahl) Cooper. Reuel graduated from Baylor in 1954 with a BA Degree in Religion and graduated from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth in 1959.

He was the interim pastor at First Baptist Church in Dime Box for 14 years, and had been the pastor at First Baptist Church in Lexington for 23 years, and also retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army Reserves. He spent nine and a half years in active duty, serving as Army Chaplain in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Lexington Rotary Club, Lexington Masonic Lodge #138, Lexington Eastern Star Chapter #996 and served as the director with Lexington E.M.S.

On June 24, 1955, he and Lanelle Thompson were married in the Azle Ave. Baptist Church in Ft. Worth.

Reuel passed away Wednesday, October 26th, in the Christus Dubuis Hospital in Bryan, reaching the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Edgar Cooper, Jr. in October 2010.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Lanelle Cooper of Lexington, 4 sons, Reuel “Buddy” Cooper, Jr. of Lexington, Thomas Edgar Cooper and wife Pam of Indianapolis, Indiana, Billy Wade Cooper and wife Nova of Bryan, Richard Russell Cooper of Lexington; Brother, Carl L. Cooper of Houston, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services were 2: 00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2011 in the First Baptist Church in Lexington with Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Prospect Cemetery near Lexington.

Pallbearers were Mike Ivicic, Danny Ivicic, Jeff Ivicic, Randy Ivicic, Steven Ivicic, Jerramy Ivicic, Joey Ivicic, Marshall Ivicic.

Honorary pallbearers were Justin Ivicic, Jason Ivicic, Michael Ivicic, Scott Casey Ivicic, JR Ivicic.
