Drought Financial Workshop

A Drought Financial Workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 16, from 6 pm to 8 pm, at the Lincoln Community Center in Lee County. The cost is $12/ person. RSVP must be made by November 15. Call the Lee County Extension office at (979) 542-2753.

The extremely dry conditions that we are experiencing are forcing producers to make very tough choices about what to do with their cattle. Dr. David Anderson, Extension Economist in Livestock Marketing, will discuss tax options regarding drought management destocking of livestock herds.

Beginning January 1, 2012, if you claim an exemption from sales tax on items used in the production of agricultural and timber products, you must have a registration number with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Stefanie Medack and Sun Down Hunter with the Comptroller’s office will explain the application process to obtain your registration number. Also, information will be presented on which items qualify for an exemption from Texas sales tax.
