Antique Mall Opens in Downtown Lexington on the Square

Angel Kisses Antiques, a new antique mall in Lexington, will host their Grand Opening on Saturday, October 15, in conjunction with the Lexington Chamber of Commerce Annual Chocolate Lovers Festival. Both events will be held on the Square, in downtown Lexington all day.

Judy Barrett, the founding editor and publisher of HOMEGROWN: Good Sense Organic Living for Texas, will be at the shop that morning from 10 to 11, signing her newest book What Makes Heirloom Plants So Great? She is the author of several gardening books, including Tomatillos: A Gardener’s Dream, A Cook’s Delight and How To Become An Organic Gardener in 7 Easy Steps. Her book: What Can I Do With My Herbs? was published by Texas A&M Press in the spring of 2009. Her newest book, Recipes From and For The Garden, is due out in the spring of 2012.

Judy speaks throughout the south to various organizations, including herb societies and garden clubs, providing master gardening and expert gardening training to the professional and novice, alike. She will offer some of her gardening wisdom during the Angel Kisses’ Grand Opening.

Donnie Suehs, furniture restorer extraordinaire, will also be featured at Angel Kisses on Saturday. He will demonstrate his prowess and knowledge from noon until 1, sharing his 35 years of experience for the benefit of all of us who love the craftsmanship of olde.

Donnie, a resident of Caldwell, is renowned throughout south and Central Texas for his expertise and he is sought out by collectors of the finest antique furnishings throughout the area to help bring their treasurers back to their original glory. Donnie will demonstrate some of his tricks of the trade between 12 and 1, Saturday, October 15.

Ed Kliman, a musician based in the Lexington area who has been touring in Europe all summer, will entertain the visitors to Angel Kisses Antiques on Saturday also. He will be playing country, blues, rock and the occasional Cajun waltz, as well as taking requests. Ed will be at Angel Kisses Antiques beginning at 1 p.m.

Maribeth Harvey, owner of Southern Re-Design, will bring her unique ability to make any space beautiful and cozy, to Angel Kisses between 2 and 3 Saturday afternoon. Maribeth is an expert in taking ordinary items and making them appear extraordinary! She can turn a plain piece of furniture into something feminine and chic. She goes into people’s homes and helps them with full-scale (or mini) makeovers using things that they already own and have in their home. Come see what Maribeth, a true Southern Belle, has to share at Angel Kisses, Saturday, October 15, between 2 and 3 p.m.

Travis McPhaul will be at the Angel Kisses Antiques all day Saturday too. He’ll have his wide assortment of Frost Cutlery Corner Knives, including Steel Warriors, White Tails, Wild Turkeys, Uncle Jims and more! Travis will be happy to discuss knives and knife crafting as he sells a large variety of pocket and hunting knives.

Winding up the afternoon, Angel Kisses will provide coffee and cake from 3 until 4, giving visitors a chance to taste some of the fare entered into this year’s Chocolate Lovers Festival’s Best Baking Contest.
