Rogers and Franklin had a barn burner last Friday with Rogers winning 46-42 with about 30 seconds remaining.
It is the second week in a row Rogers has won in that fashion, beating Mart 43-42 by scoring twice on long drives in the fourth quarter after being down 27-42. Rogers and Franklin can obviously score, but can they stop anyone with speed?
The District 12-AA DII should be a good one. Rogers and Thorndale are undefeated and Lexington and Franklin have one defeat. Rosebud-Lott, Jarrell, and Bruceville-Eddy have four wins total. It seems like there will be one good team that gets to stay at home when the playoffs start.
With the season at the halfway point, A.J. Flot leads in rushing with 403 yards on 50 carries. Kogan Garrett has 277 yards on 59 tries. Garrett has completed 62 of 93 passes for 1,154 yards and 13 TDs. Jason Washington has caught 22 passes for 450 yards and six TDs. Josh Murray has snagged 23 passes for 290 yards and six TDs.
The Aggies snatched defeat from the jaws of victory Saturday. They were a completely different team after halftime. Oklahoma State scored 27 unanswered points before the Ags could get a field goal and then OSU gave them a safety to end the game. The halftime adjustments were not very good for A&M.
If Coach Mack and the Horns lose to Iowa State this week, a moving van may be parked in front of his house. The Cyclones are undefeated thus far, so a win is not an impossible dream. I think ISU won last year in Austin.
