Country Music Monday
Country Music Monday sponsored by the Rotary Club of Giddings presents a great list of performers for the October 3rd program. Laurie Robertson, Paul Schlisinger, Allen Orts, Sally Carlson and Ken Brothers.
Paul Schlisinger is a strong fiddle player, and is sought after by many groups for his sense of playing style, knowledge of songs and clean vocals. A Texan who studied for a career in photojournalism but found during his studies that he was more interested in performing music than following it around with a camera. He regularly performs with his own group the Kinghts of Texas Swing, as well as the Texas Pioneers, the Stardusters, and Joe Boyd Reynold’s Lee County Cowboys. He has received numerous honors and awards and played for prestigious crowds around Texas.
Laurie Robertson is a newcomer to the Lone Star Opry who comes from Hotense, Texas in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas. She has established herself as an entertainer that engages her audience in her singing and guitar playing. She enjoys writing music and is working on her dream of becoming a true Country Music Star.
Allen Orts is well known in the Lee County area for his talent in playing the guitar. You will frequently find him on the stages in the area providing good entertainment for his listeners.
Ken Brothers and Sally Carlson have been playing guitar and singing country and gospel music for a number of years and are very comfortable on the monthly Lone Star Opry Stage. They will join the regular Country Music Monday Band to kick off the program on the first Monday in October at 7:30 P.M. at the new Giddings High School Cafetorium on Highway 77 North of Giddings. Admission is $5.00, Rotarians will be on hand to help with the parking, and food is availale.
