Chocolate Lovers Festival Best Chocolate Cake/Best Chocolate Desserts Contest October 15th
Austin-area food blogger and Austin-American Statesman food writer Addie Broyles will be the guest judge for this year’s Chocolate Lovers Festival Best Chocolate Cake/Best Chocolate Desserts contest, part of Lexington’s annual Chocolate Lovers Festival. This year’s festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 15, on the Square in downtown Lexington.
Joining Addie Broyles will be Chef Charles Williams of the Texas Chefs Association. The Texas Chefs Association bills itself as “The Food Authority of Texas.” Chef Michael Becquet will round out the judging panel.
The contests are open to all. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: First and Second Place cakes and desserts baked by those under age 14; First, Second, and Third Place cakes and desserts baked by adults (14 and over).
The cakes and desserts will be primarily chocolate, and can be an original or an adapted recipe. Judging criteria will be taste, ingredients, and appearance.
Cakes and Desserts will be on display for viewing and for bidding in a silent auction in the Masonic Lodge hall from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. At 1:30, the doors will close and the judges will sample each cake and dessert and determine the winners. Prizes of U.S. Savings Bonds are being sponsored by Bluebonnet Electric.
The prizes will be awarded as follows:

$50 Third Place
Children 13 and Under Prizes
$100 First Place
$50 Second Place
$25 Third Place
