Eighth Grade Football Action
The 8th grade middle school football team stepped out onto the playing field hoping to put a win in the column. Lexington kicked off to Navarro and kicked it out of bounds. They re-kicked and Navarro took over on their own 43 yard line.
The first play from scrimmage had Navarro throw out into the left flats. The back caught the ball, then went 57 yards for the touchdown. The rest of the first quarter went with Lexington turning the ball over on downs and Navarro scoring on all of their possessions, including two more touchdowns of 28 and 42 yards.
Lexington’s last two possessions of the half consisted of one play each when Navarro defensive backs stepped in and intercepted passes thrown by Lexington. By the end of the first period Navarro led 22-0.
The second period mimicked the first in that Navarro kept scoring on long plays of 20 yards and 56 yards, while Lexington struggled having to punt, and fumbling the ball once. The half ended with Navarro up 36-0.
The start of the third saw the Eagles punting again and Navarro scoring again. The period ended with the Panthers up 44-0.
The fourth period showed some good movement of the ball by Lexington, but ultimately the clock ran out with a final score of 44-0 in Navarro’s favor.
