Middle School Volleyball Report

PHOTO BY TRACY STRAIN. The Junior High volleyballers opened their season September 1st against Rogers. All four teams lost as the coaches moved players into teams to see how they competed.

7B lost in three games, splitting the first two with Rogers, 14-25 and 25-19. They lost the third game 12- 15.

7A lost in two games 15-25, 4-25. Amanda Zgabay had two aces and one assist. Kynslie Meyer had a kill for the Lady Eagles.

8B lost in two games 22 - 25, 18 – 25. Jasmine Washington served well according to Coach Marla Mitchell.

8A lost in three games: 25 - 22, 15 - 25, 22 – 25. Karsen Ross had 3 aces, 3 digs, 5 kills; Melanie Scantlin had 2 aces, 2 assists; Krista Lerche had 4 assists; Sara McManus had 2 aces, 1 kill; Kennedee Herklotz had 1 ace; Gem Brewer had 1 kill; and Casey Faske, Whitney Willrich had 1 dig each.

September 8th, the young ladies had better fortunes against Florence. The 7th graders lost again, but were more competitive. The 8th graders won both matches to even their records a 1-1.

7B lost in two games 14 - 25, 16 – 25. Comments from coaches were: McKynzie Jackson - 4 aces; Catherine Siegmund good net reactions; Stormy Mayeux - good job passing on the back row; Clarissa Parker - extra effort hustle; Emma Beard - consistent floor leadership

7A also lost in two games 15 - 25, 14 – 25. Stats and comments about play were: Courtney Strain - 2 aces, good passing; Madison Stefek - 2 aces; Halle Mitchell - 1 ace, 1 kill, good net play; Allyson Biehle - 1 ace

8B earned Lexington’s first win of the Middle School season in three games; 20 - 25, 25 - 18, 15 – 13.

Shakora Lattimer - excellent serving and good teamwork by all players. “We are very proud of them for coming back and staying focused after losing the first game.”

8A Lexington won in two games 25 - 11, 25 – 19. Players and their stats are: Karsen Ross - 9 aces, 3 kills, 1 dig; Melanie Scantlin - 1 ace, 3 assists; Kennedee Herklotz - 1 ace, 1 kill; Krista Lerche - 3 aces; Sara McManus - 3 aces; Whitney Willrich - 1 kill; Casey Faske - 3 aces; Vanessa Molina - 3 aces.
