Lady Eagles Top Academy
Lexington used a spirited defense combined with a consistent offense to down the Little River Academy Bees Friday afternoon in three games. Lexington won the match with game scores of 25-13, 27-25, and 25-23. After the first game, the games were highly competitive and entertaining.
Lexington killed, dug, and set their way to an easy win in the first game. Johna Alford, Aleece Moerbe, and Karley Wren kept the pressure on with kills, dinks, and soft spikes that went where Academy had no defense.
Game two was highlighted with the score 10-12 in Academy’s favor. Alford got high and spiked the ball almost at the blocker’s shoes. That took what momentum LRA had and put Lexington back into the game which they eventually won in overtime. There were several points that lasted at least 10 volleys, again highlighted by hustle and effort by the girls on both sides of the net.
Game three was just as competitive as game two. The two teams battled, with Lexington just gaining the upper hand to win by two.
Lexington is now 9-9 for the season and 1-0 in district play.
