Lady Eagles Fall to RTC

by Mike Organ

Lexington volleyball suffered a defeat at the hands of #1 Class A ranked Round Top-Carmine in three games. The Cubettes won 14-25, 18- 25, and 12-25.

Lexington started with a lot of energy as the first game opened. Game one started evenly with the teams tied at two. RTC went on a quick run to make the score 2-6. Coach Aldrich called a time out to steady her girls and to stop the RTC momentum. It worked as Lexington won the next two points, but the stateranked team took over. A quick spurt put RTC up 8-16. For the rest of the game Lexington seemed indecisive in going after balls.

Game two was the closest score of the night but RTC was in command all the way. Lexington made some good plays, diving for kill attempts, and hustling.

Game three was very competitive until the score reached 12-15. Both teams were playing good volleyball and there were several volleys that saw the ball go over the net five or six times before a point was earned. RTC got the next point and Lexington seemed to lose concentration as the Cubettes ran off 10 straight points for the game and match.

The Lady Eagle JV suffered defeat in split games. Lexington took the first game 25-19, but lost the next two 10-25,12-25.

Lexington enters district play Friday against Academy in the Lexington gym with a 8-9 record.
