Lady Eagles Flip Fayetteville

by Mike Organ

Lexington improved its 2011 record to 7-4 with a three game win over Fayetteville Tuesday in the APK Recreation Center. Lexington won 25-14, 25-11, and 25-19. In game two, Karley Wren served 10 straight points.

Johna Alford had a big match offensively and defensively with 14 kills on offense and four blocks defensively. Aleece Moerbe and Wren each recorded seven kills in the match. The kills were made possible by Brittany Nichol’s 28 assists.

The Lady Birds played good, consistent volleyball the first two games. The third game, they lost a little focus as Fayetteville made a run against the Lady Eagles. A lot of the points in game three came from indecision.

The Lady Eagles played in the Round Top-Carmine tourney last weekend and the Cubettes on Tuesday. They will open the District 27- AA season in Lexington against Little River/ Academy.
