Possession, Assault, Evading Arrest Fill Court Docket
Charges of possession, assault and evading arrest filled the docket of the 21st Judicial District Court on August 30 with the Honorable Terry Flenniken presiding.
Arnulfo Gonzales, Jr., 33 of Giddings, was sentenced to 42 months confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice jail facility, with the original sentence being revoked, for possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, 4 – 200 grams. He was also sentenced to 180 days confinement in the Lee County Law Enforcement Center for assault causing bodily injury and ordered to pay all costs associated with the first sentencing plus $388 in court costs and fees.
Jose Raul Lara Martinez, 22 of Giddings, was given four years probation for possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, less than 1 gram, and was ordered to pay $988 in court costs, fees and restitution. He was ordered to perform 175 hours of community service restitution and to successfully complete a drug offender education program.
Pedro “Pete” Ruiz, 29 of Austin, was given three years probation for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. He was ordered to pay $2,038 in court costs, fees, and fines and ordered to serve ten (10) weekends in the Lee County Law Enforcement Center as a condition of his probation. He was also told by the Judge that he would have to perform 150 hours of community service restitution.
