The Lexington JV football team played host to the 3A Smithville Tigers in Eagle stadium on Thursday, August 25th at 6 p.m. for the opening game of the season. The playing conditions were Texas hot, but the boys were ready to go.

For the first few minutes of the game, the two teams went back and forth, working out the jitters of the new season, but with 6:49 left in the first period, Smithville jumped on top 6-0.

With the lead, Smithville continued to pile on the points, making effective use of sweeps around the right side and dives up the middle.

It was the third period with the Tigers up 28-0 before Lexington was able to put up 16 unanswered points. After making the score 28-16 Smithville, the Tigers went on a roll and the game eventually ended 44-16.

While the score may not reflect the effort, the Lexington JV team played well and battled hard.
