Country Music Monday
The September 5th presentation of Country Music Monday marks the 225th Country Music program the Rotary Club of Giddings has sponsored. The first Monday evening of every month since January of 1993, a great variety of performers ranging in age from the very young to the more polished and experienced guest artists, have thrilled audiences with their musical abilities. There have been those with outstanding singing abilities, yodelers, playing guitar or other stringed instruments, the accordion, the harmonica, or a combination of instruments that compose a special kind of band.
This September 5th will be no exception. Five outstanding country western musicians are scheduled to take the stage at 7:30 P.M. to entertain the awaiting audience. Ken Brothers, a performer well known in Central Texas and beyond, Gene Hackamack, also from this part of central Texas and known for his touch of German songs, Bill Spiegel, formerly of Austin now enjoying retirement in the Winchester community, known to Country Music audiences, Allison Collins, a delightful country western singer, and the 2 ½ Angels will have your toes tapping and your spirits lifted with their renditions of Country Music. Traditional country, original compositions, blues, rock, Texas Country, Classic Country, you will enjoy a variety of music.
Country Music Monday has had an impact on Lee County for these many years, providing consistent good entertainment for many from far and near. The Rotary Club of Giddings uses its profits from the performances to provide scholarships to graduating high school students, which again benefits many students in the area.
The doors open at 5:15 P.M., with the performance beginning at 7:30 P.M. in the new Giddings High School Cafetorium on Highway 77 North of Giddings. Food is available and assistance in parking and helping people to get into the building is provided the patrons.
The admission to the Lone Star Opry/Country Music Monday on September 5th is $5.00.
