9-11 Memorial Service

On Sunday, September 11, the Lexington Ministerial Alliance will be assisting a group of local citizens in hosting a Memorial Service for the 10 year anniversary of 9-11. The event will be held on the Square at 6 p.m.

Mayor Robert Willrich, Sr. will give opening remarks, followed by a Prayer Chain led by several members of the Ministerial Alliance. Lexington Police Chief Jerry Bowden will read the Policeman’s Prayer; Lexington Fire Chief Donnie Milburn will read the Fireman’s Prayer; and a local member of the EMS community will read the Paramedic’s Prayer.

Opal Jane Lewis, the organizer of this program and a member of the Lexington City Council, will also read a poem. Lewis said, “As a memorial tribute, we will mark the 10th Anniversary of the attack on our country with flags, patriotic songs, readings and prayer. Please come to this special ceremony.”

The Ministerial Alliance will sponsor a reception immediately following. Desserts and soft drinks will be served. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
