County Disapproves Appraisal District Budget
The Court voted to disapprove the budget submitted by the Lee County Appraisal District last Monday. The total budget was $780,982 and included a cost of living raise for Appraisal employees. With the County not planning for any increase in county employees wages, the Commissioners felt it was very inappropriate to approve any for Appraisal District employees.
In other business at their Monday meeting, the Court accepted the $271,613 from the Texas Historical Commission for their part of the additional work needed in the Courthouse Repair Project. The additional work has, to date, added $411,535 to the original cost of the repairs. The Court also accepted a grant of $ 15,000 from the Lehman Foundation for repairs to the elevator in the Courthouse.
In other action, the Court approved the list of election judges and alternate judges for a one year term effective September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012. The Court approved reappointing Mayor Robert Willrich to the Board of Trustees of Bluebonnet Trails Community Mental Health Mental Retardation Center.
With the Fire Danger Index reported at 770, with a maximum of 800, the County Wide Burn Ban will continue.
