Meet Lauren Hatch
Lauren Hatch has been hired as the new head softball and assistant volleyball coach for the Lexington Lady Eagles. Coach Hatch is a 2007 graduate of Spring High School. She matriculated at the University of Houston where she earned her degree in 2011. While at the University of Houston she played college softball. Hatch played third base and catcher for the Lady Cougars.
Since graduation she has been coaching the Houston Power, a select team based in Katy. She wants to move into high school coaching and was happy the job at Lexington opened when Ryan Starnes left for a position in Alvord. Lexington has, if rehabilitation goes as expected, eight starters back to compete. Only one of those returning is a senior. The Lady Eagles look to be set for years to come.
Hatch believes in strong fundamentals and doing the little things right. She wants the players to understand the nuances of the game without being told.
Coach Hatch wanted to come to Lexington because of the high expectations. The quality of the team will help the coach prepare to advance up the coaching ladder in years to come.
Coach Hatch is really Coach Strickland as of right now, but she is getting married in early September. All concerned thought it would be better to give the athletes one name to learn instead of changing once the season is underway.
