Marvin Alton Fritsche
Marvin Alton Fritsche was born on January 21, 1929 in Loebau, Texas to Gerhard & Selma (Pampell) Fritsche. He was united in marriage to Gladys Bittner on June 6, 1954 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Sharon & Ricky. Marvin retired from the Giddings office of the Texas Highway Department after twenty five years of service. He was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings and currently a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. Marvin was a member and former Director of the Giddings Sons of Hermann Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and making fried chicken and barbeque. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Rangers and Astros play. He especially loved watching his grandchildren play in their various sporting events.
Marvin passed away the morning of Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Heart Hospital of Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard & Laura Fritsche, Ben & Adelia Fritsche and Gilbert & Frieda Fritsche; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ester & Walter Nimtz and Tillie & Charlie Schramm; sisters-inlaw and brothers-in-law, Frieda & Gilbert Fritsche, Bernice & Milton Friedrich, Florence & Elmer Fischer, Frances Kappler Ganske, Milton Kappler, William Ganske, Martin & Evelyn Bittner and Milton Bittner.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Gladys Fritsche of Loebau; two children, Sharon & Dennis Baylor Sr. of Belton and Ricky & Kim Fritsche of Loebau; six grandchildren, LaChelle & Todd Bradley of Giddings, DeAtera & David Bass of Copperas Cove, Dennis Baylor Jr. of Morgans Point, Whitney Fritsche & friend, Tracy Hamilton, of Dallas, Regan Fritsche of College Station and Brooke Fritsche of Loebau; four great grandchildren, Meghan Bass of Copperas Cove, Ashlyn Bradley of Giddings, Christian Bradley of Giddings and Erin Bass of Copperas Cove (who is scheduled to arrive in September); three sisters, Adelia Nimtz of Houston, Lillie Kuehnle of Spring and Ruby & Traugott Teinert of Dime Box; brother-inlaw, Monroe & Bernice Bittner of Giddings; sister-in-law, Laura & Herbert Hosea of Giddings as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Texas with Rev. Paul Hartfield officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Kappler, Larry Bittner, Gary Fritsche, Daniel Fritsche, Timmy Fritsche and Charles Fritsche. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Jatzlau, Herbert Michalk, Norman Berger, Clyde Farris, Herbert Hosea, Antonio Gonzales, Ernie Goerlitz, Dale Tomanetz, Paul Meinke and Lana Nickel.
Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church Building Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
