Kleinschmidt gymnasium as volleyball practice for the 2011 season got underway this past Monday morning. The girls went through drills for three days, getting in volleyball shape and learning the new coach’s terminology.

The team will be extremely young this season with only one senior on the squad. The varsity team will consist of a large group of juniors, sophomores and a freshman.

The Lady Eagles scrimmaged Franklin Saturday and the coaches got to see how the Lady Eagles would respond to hitting, digging, and bumping hits by someone other than their own teammates. Coach Aldrich learned a lot from the scrimmage and was pleased with the effort put forth.

Lexington played Smithville Tuesday and will be playing in the Cameron tournament about the time you read this.

The Lady Eagles finished their two-a-days last Friday too, but were back at it first thing Monday morning. Some of the girls are seen above performing preseason conditioning drills.

They will be 2003 LHS graduate, Kevin Patschke and a newcomer to Lexington, Lauren Hatch. Coach Aldrich said the Lady Eagles intend to field three teams this year. Hopefully all three teams will be able to play the entire season.
