The Eagles had a productive first week of football practice, according to Coach Jason Holcomb. “The vast majority of the kids showed up in good shape, so practices went well. The youngsters adapted to the heat very well as we practiced in the morning and had the athletes at home during the hottest time of the day. The team chemistry seems to be very good for early in the season. The kids are focused on making this team a better team than last season’s state finalist.”

Lexington has also had the good fortune to have three young men from Elgin move into the district. All three could be major contributors if they get the okay from the District Executive Committee that met on Monday afternoon to decide the threesomes’ eligibility for Lexington. The DEC decides basically if the athletes moved for familty or athletic reasons. If they determine they were recruited, they can deny eligibility; otherwise, they will be full fledged Lexington Eagles.
