Giddings Library News Corner

By Judy Belyeu

The Texas Word Wrangler Book Festival, 2011 will be held on September 9, 2011 at the Giddings Public Library beginning at 10:00 A.M. This article features some of our authors who will be present on that day. This is a very exciting day, so come by and meet our authors and look at their books.

Flawless by Laura Chapman is a hilarious and romantic teen novel filled with miss- guided matchmaking, sweet romance, and a gentle reminder about our imperfections. Texas Frontier Foods by Elaine Coleman gives recipes used by pioneers in Texas. Danyale’s Amazing Hair by Rose Cook tells of people with different hair styles. Copper County Chronicler: The Best of J. W. Nara by Deborah K. Frontiera helps you to experience the past through the artistic camera lens of J. W. Nara, one of the Copper Country’s earliest professional photographers. This collection of his historic photos brings the “Copper Boom” era back to life. The Adventures Of Minnie by Jan Siegel Hart is a Junior fiction book that relates the experiences of the youngest member of a Jewish immigrant family at home and at school in a small Texas town. Montana Mist: Winter Of The White Wolf by Doug Hiser is a literary work of love, loneliness, desperate secrets and a hidden world – a place where people go to escape their former lives. One Ranger:A Memoir by Joaquin Jackson shares dramatic stories defying all stereotypes. He was the one ranger who ensured a fair election and an overwhelming win for La Raza Unida party candidates in Qavale County in 1972. One Ranger Returns by Joaquin Jackson reveals aspects of his character that weren’t as fully displayed in his first book. The Rangers who move me are the ones who go against the social and political grain to do what is right.
