Just got the media guide for the Coaches All-Star game and they left Tommy Jackson’s name completely out of the program. Chance Sherrill is having a great time. He will wear #40 just like in high school. He was on regional TV as the all-stars were taken to a Rangers game on Sunday night.
I received a note from former Giddings coach Derek Fitzhenry. Longview Pine Tree (where he went to coach after leaving Giddings) voted a bond issue and will have a $20 million dollar stadium next year and a $1.6 million indoor workout facility. He will have some “tough” working conditions. Giddings facilities are great but…….
I am looking forward to having lunch with the all-stars tomorrow (Monday, July 25) the day before they play in the famous Jerry’s World! I have not been to to the all-star game since 1979, just a 25- year break.
The Texas High School Coaches Association convention has been called “coaching school” by many for years. If the coaches waited until the week before fall practice to decide their offense and defenses, they would most likely end up with a big mess. They do get ideas from the various college coaches that are present, but most of the education comes over a cup of coffee with friends from other schools and classifications.
The Rangers are leading the West Division of the American League by three games. They look to have a real good chance of making the playoffs again. Only the Los Angeles Angels have a shot at taking down the Rangers.
The Astros on the other hand have been waving the white flag for a month already. They can’t seem to win at home or on the road.
Monday morning you can go up to school and watch workouts to see just what you think of the 2011 Eagles.
