William (Buddy) Emmitt Stamport
Buddy was born on August 26, 1937 in Lexington to Wheeler and Gladys Stamport. He passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2011, at the age of 73 years, 10 months, 3 weeks, and 1 day with his family by his side. Buddy was born in Lexington, but spent most of his life in Leo. He and Vera Robbins were married on July 14, 1958. During their 53 years of marriage, they were blessed with three children, four grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren. He was blessed to have numerous nieces and nephews, great friends, and a wonderful community. He always seemed to be his happiest working with his backhoe and helping others.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Stamport of Lexington; three children, Elaine & Ronnie Clinard of Lexington; Cynthia Kay & Roger Knobloch of Manheim; Darwin Stamport of Dallas; four grandchildren, Harvey Kristek, Jr. of Odessa; Cristy Knobloch of Austin; Aaron Knobloch of Manheim; Tammy Clinard of Lexington; three greatgrandchildren, Robert, Erica, and McKenzie, of Lexington; two very special girls, Linda Brown Smith of Lexington and Susie Taylor Woelfel of Tanglewood; and one very special boy, Alan Turner of Lexington.
He is also survived by his two brothers, Charlie and Shirley Stamport of Lexington; Johnny Stamport of Loebau; and two sisters, Barbara and Dee Stamport of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Wheeler and Gladys Stamport; his brother, Jim Stamport; his sisters, Leona and Billie Ann Stamport; one niece, Kerry Nall; a sister-in-law, Nellie Stamport; and his brother-in-law, Talbert Robbins.
Funeral services were held at Lexington Faith Temple at 10:00am, Saturday, July 23, 2011. Burial followed at Lexington Cemetery.
