Ludwig Henry Richter
Ludwig Henry Richter was born on January 31, 1927 in Fedor, Texas to Andreas & Ottillie ( Polnick) Richter. He was baptized on February 13, 1927 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor and confirmed there as well on April 6, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and obtained the rank of Private First Class before receiving his Honorable Discharge on December 5, 1946. Ludwig was united in marriage to Margaret Alma Dube on November 26, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Karen. He was a longtime farmer in the Fedor area and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ludwig was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor his entire life and served in various offices and positions, including Elder, Trustee and Chairman of the Congregation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andreas & Ottillie (Polnick) Richter; brother, Henry Richter; half brothers, Emil Petzold, Alvin Richter, Paul Richter, Oswald Richter, Richard Richter and Otto Richter and half sisters, Alma Finn, Anna Finn and Hulda Brade.
Ludwig is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Dube) Richter of Fedor; two daughters, Sharon & Curtis Schimank of Giddings and Karen & Kenneth Patschke of Lexington; grandchildren, Melanie & Brock Kovar of Bastrop, Angie & Andy Althaus of White Oak, Jackie Schimank & fiance, Brian Lauderdale of Bryan, Kim & Jason Haas of Giddings, Matthew Schimank of Bryan, Kevin Patschke & friend, Sarah Lay of Lexington and Krystalyn Patschke & friend, Colten Burd of Lexington; great grandchildren, Ainsley Althaus of White Oak, Reid Kovar of Bastrop, Braylon Althaus of White Oak and Brynlee Haas of Giddings; step great grandchildren, Brent Haas & Cayden Haas of Giddings; sisterin law, Edna Richter of Fedor; brother-in-law, Herman & Gladys Dube of Loebau as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ludwig Richter, 84 were held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor with Rev. Leif Hasskarl officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Matthew Schimank, Kevin Patschke, Brock Kovar, Andy Althaus, Jason Haas, Brian Lauderdale, Colton Burd, Andrew Richter, Brent Haas and Cayden Haas.
