Eagles at State 7 on 7
Lexington opened the Fox Sports Southwest 7 on 7 tourney with a 27-13 win over Pettus. Perineal power Celina proved to be too much for the Eagles as they topped Lexington 38- 21. Lexington had some high points, including some acrobatic catches in the Celina match up. They also had some low- lights as they dropped passes on routine plays that should be made. In the third game of pool play Iraan, from way out in West Texas, dropped the Eagles 32-29. It should be noted that both Iraan and Pettus had quarterbacks predicted to be the MVP in their respective districts.
The 1-2 record in pool play put Lexington into the consolation bracket in Division II. Waco Reicher, a catholic school that plays in TAPPS, topped the Eagles 42-41 in an exciting match.
Lexington joined Rockdale, Academy, Salado, Burnet, and Cameron in leaving the tournament after the first day.
