Myrtle M. Love

March 30, 1916 - July 18, 2011

Funeral services for Myrtle M. Love will be at 10: 00 a. m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 in the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. at Bellwood Memorial Cemetery in Temple. Rev. Jack Chelf will officiate.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 in the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Kenneth Evans, Jamie Woodward, Dale Evans, Don Evans, Randy Evans, Dan Smith.

Honorary pallbearers: Ken Alan Evans, Joel Evans, Tracy Woodward, Bill Woodward, John Love, Ricky Love, Eldon Ball and former employees of Love’s Flowers and Gifts.

Myrtle M. Love was born March 30, 1916 in Valley Mills, Texas to Benjamin Jehu and Verda Elizabeth (Thomas) Evans. She graduated with honors from Salado High School as Valedictorian in 1934 and attended Southwest Texas State University, obtaining a B.A. and M.Ed. degree.

On January 24, 1942, she and Harold Love were married in Yuma, Arizona. They lived in San Diego, California 3-1/2 years. While there, she was a member of the Junior Women’s Club of San Diego. One daughter was born to this union.

Myrtle was a school teacher in Goodville, Bartlett and Lexington. In Rockdale she taught first grade in the same classroom for 29 years, retiring on May 31, 1982.

She was a former owner of Love’s Flower and Gift Shop in Rockdale from 1975 to 1989.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, member at large of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a life member of the Crippled Childrens Camp of Kerrville.

Myrtle passed away Monday morning, July 18, 2011 in the Cameron Nursing Center in Cameron, reaching the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold on August 21, 1998; her parents; three brothers, Morris, Thomas and Moody Evans; sister, Wilma Woodward and great granddaughter, Maci Love Dolat.

Surviving are her daughter Pamela Kay Dymke of Rockdale; granddaughters Kelli Dawn Hilton of Rockdale, and Staci Dolat of Raleigh, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren Bailee Sierra and Hunter Shea Hilton, Joshua Jon and Megan Hope Dolat; and Sister-in-law Doris Love of Holland.
