Milton Edgar Frosch
Milton Edgar Frosch was born on May 9, 1927 at Paige, Texas to Herbert Otto & Lena Anna (Winkler) Frosch. He was baptized on May 9, 1927 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas by Rev. Oswald Lugenheim and confirmed on April 6, 1941 by Rev. Adolph Michalk at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. His confirmation verse was Revelation 19:9 “And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” Milton graduated from Giddings High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII receiving his Honorable Discharge on July 6, 1946 having obtained the rank of Seaman First Class. After his military service, he attended Blinn College in Brenham and worked briefly at Butler Grimes in Houston before starting his career in banking. Milton joined Citizens State Bank in Giddings on October 4, 1952 and was employed there for 38 years before being forced to retire as a vice president when the bank sold in 1990. He was united in marriage to Violet Reinhardt on May 11, 1968 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Emil Krugler. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Michael & Douglas. He always took an active role in his community where he had been the Treasurer for the local chapter of the Salvation Army for over forty years, a member of the American Legion Post 276 and was one of the three individuals who were instrumental in organizing Giddings Recreation, Inc. which built the first public swimming pool for Giddings. He also managed and took care of the swimming pool for over twelve years. Milton was also active in his church where he served as church treasurer for St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln and as a checker at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing 42 and being outdoors. His greatest love and enjoyment was taking care of and spending time with his grandchildren.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Lena Frosch; two brothers, one in infancy and Leroy Frosch; brother-inlaw, Wallice L. Mitschke and two nephews, Paul Frosch and Robert Frosch.
He is survived by his wife, Violet Frosch of Giddings; two sons, Michael Frosch of Lincoln and Douglas & Jennifer Frosch of Lincoln; two grandchildren Arianna Frosch & Hunter Frosch both of Lincoln; brothers, Herb & Evelyn Frosch of Austin, Clifton & Bernice Frosch of Lincoln, Curtis & Mary Ann Frosch of Giddings, Wesley & Mary Frosch of Broaddus, Eldor & Sue Frosch of New Braunfels, Wayne & Ferne Frosch of Huntsville and Sherwood & Janet Frosch of Lexington; sisters, Lucille & Louis Sander of Austin, Lena Mae & Jerry Vogel of Pleasanton and Sharon & Jimmy Kunkel of Austin; sisterin law, Gladys Frosch of Lincoln; in-laws, Ruth & Norbert Pietsch of Montgomery, Edward & Ruth Reinhardt of Austin, Frances & Melvin Zgabay of Caldwell, Dorine & Ken Sistare of Giddings and Angie & James Frerichs of Kingwood as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Milton Frosch, 84 were held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner & Rev. Keith Aschenbeck officiating. Burial with military honors were provided by the American Legion Post 276 of Giddings in the Giddings City Cemetery.
