Eleven Receive Sentencing

Eleven people were sentenced in the 21st Judicial District Court of Lee County, Texas on July 12, 2011, with the Honorable Reva Towslee- Corbett presiding.

Orlando Rodriguez, Jr., 22, of Giddings, was sentenced for possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, 1-4 grams. His original sentence was revoked and he received six years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, including all costs previously assessed.

Richard Garcia, 17, of the Texas Youth Commission in Giddings, was sentenced for two counts of harassment by person in a certain correctional facility, to two sentences each of four years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was assessed $304.00 in court costs, $400 for court appointed attorney fee, $ 50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, and a $34 DNA Testing fee.

Jose L. Hurtado, 18,of the Texas Youth Commission in Giddings, was sentenced for assault against a public servant. He received four years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and assessed $304 court costs, $ 400 court appointment attorney fee, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, and $34 DNA Testing fee.

Jesus J. Alvarado, 17,of the Texas Youth Commission in Giddings, was sentenced for harassment by person in a certain correctional facility, to three years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was assessed $304 in court costs, $ 400 court appointed attorney fee, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, and $34 DNA Testing fee.

Shamanda Latezzcia Jeffery, 38, of Houston, was sentenced for credit card or debit card abuse. She was sentenced to 270 days confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Facility and assessed $ 304 in court costs, $ 50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper Fee, $34 DNA Testing fee, and $47.58 restitution. She was also sentenced for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information. She was sentenced to 270 days confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Facility, and assessed $ 304 court costs, $ 50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, and $34 DNA Testing fee.

Trisha Elaine Simpson, 19, of Giddings, was sentenced for evading arrest or detention with vehicle. She was sentenced to two years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Facility, probated four years, and assessed a $1,500 fine, $304 court costs, $ 400 court appointed attorney fee, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, 45 days confinement in the Lee County Jail, and 100 hours community service restitution.

Steven James Bentke, 40, of Brenham, was sentenced for forgery by passing. He was sentenced to two years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Facility, probated four years and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine, $304 Court Costs, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper Fee; $34 DNA Testing fee, $354.67 restitution, three consecutive weekends in the Lee County Jail, and 150 hours community service restitution.

Latonya Marie Cooper, 19, of Ledbetter, was sentenced for theft - $1,500 - $20,000. She was sentenced to two years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Facility probated three years, and ordered to pay $304 court costs, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper Fee, $34 DNA Testing fee, and $3,090 restitution.

Cathy Marie Cooper, 40,of Ledbetter, was sentenced for theft - $1,500 - $20,000. Her plea was to Class “A” Misdemeanor Theft - $500-$1500. She was sentenced to one year confinement in the Lee County Jail probated one year, $304 court costs, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, $34 DNA Testing fee, and $3,090 restitution.

Gail Swinford, 29,of Lexington, was sentenced for possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine, less than 1 gram. She was sentenced to four years probation, $750 fine, $304 court costs, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, $34 DNA Testing fee,$400 Court Appointed Attorney Fee, $ 60 Drug Court fee, $ 140 restitution, $15 video fee, and Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facility Treatment/ Aftercare, as required by the Parole Board.

April Hachmann, 44, of Austin, was sentenced for credit card or debit card abuse. She was sentenced to three years probation, $1,000 fine, $304 court costs, $ 400 Court Appointed Attorney fee, $50 Bluebonnet Area Crime Stopper fee, $34 DNA Testing fee, $2,918.53 restitution, and 100 hours community service restitution.
