Bennie Charles Jaehne

April 3, 1946 - July 5, 2011

Bennie Charles Jaehne was born on April 3, 1946, in Brenham, Texas to Herman E. Jaehne, Jr. & Gertrude Clara (Galipp) Jaehne. He graduated from Giddings High School in 1964 and married Frances Liberty in 1968. They were married for 12 years. Bennie married Charlotte Bardin on January 9, 1981, in Giddings. He was a 30 year member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings and an active member of the community. Bennie joined his wife in the last few years of his life as an avid Bible student, and made a personal dedication in 2010, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Bennie owned a welding shop and also did custom hay hauling and plowing before entering the oil and gas business as Chief Landman for Humble Exploration Company (HECI) in 1976, successfully negotiating leases for more than 130,000 acres in the Giddings Field of the Austin Chalk. In 1979, he was placed in charge of all field operations for HECI, where his duties included leasing land, locating seismic lines, staking wells to be drilled, flowing back new wells, building all locations and overseeing production efforts. Bennie worked as an Independent Landman before forming Giddings Oil & Gas with his son Mark. Bennie was a lifelong entrepreneur and oil and gas investor in Lee County and surrounding areas. He was currently a co-founder and vicepresident of Leexus Oil LLC in Giddings. Bennie was an avid Giddings High School Football fan and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Bennie was a great father and grandfather to all his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in the landscaping and outdoor design of his home.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Jaehne, Jr., & Gertrude Galipp Jaehne.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Jaehne of Giddings; six children, Mark & Melody Jaehne of Giddings, Michelle & Bobby Lewis of George West, Stacey & Daniel Couch of Giddings, John & Melissa Gross of George West, Patrick & Jolene Jaehne of Bastrop and Billy and Sarah Jaehne of Bastrop; twelve grandchildren, Michelle Guzman, Hunter Jaehne, Averye Jaehne & Gage Jaehne all of Giddings, Riley Lewis & Emily Lewis of George West, Jadan Couch of Giddings, Destiny Gross & Brandon Gross of George West, Hunter Wells of Bastrop and Stella Jaehne of Bastrop; brother, Herman & Caroline Jaehne of Ledbetter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 9, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Burial was at the Giddings City Cemetery, and a barbeque luncheon was held afterwards at the Texas Grand Ballroom,
