Single Car Rollover

One person escaped injury last Tuesday when the vehicle he was driving rolled over on Highway 77. Jason Ralph Padgett of Lexington was traveling southbound on Highway 77 north of Lexington in a 1999 Ford F150 pickup at about 2: 30 in the afternoon. Several callers reported the accident to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and Deputy Carvin was dispatched to assist DPS Senior Trooper Bob Thorp at the scene.

According to DPS, it appeared Padgett ran partially off the right side of the roadway into the west ditch. He overcorrected to the left, entering back on to the highway before swerving back to the right, causing the vehicle to slide sideways and off the right side of the highway. This sent the truck into a roll and the vehicle came to a stop, upside down facing northwest in the west ditch.

Padgett reported to the law enforcement officers that he wasn’t sure what happened. He did not suffer serious injury in the accident.
