She was a Preseason All-Big 12 selection in a vote by the conference coaches. Amanda was elected a team captain prior to the season. Amanda joined Jackie Vincent as the only two Tech players to play every set in the 2010 season. Dowdy posted double-digit kills in all but five of Tech’s matches. Dowdy holds the Texas Tech school record for most kills in a match with 37 against Colorado. Dowdy also made a career-high 20 digs in the match for her fifth double-double of the season. She had 87 attempts in the match, six off the Big 12 and Tech records. Both of Amanda’s attempts and kill figures were tops among Big 12 players this season. Even with the amount of swings, Dowdy still managed to finish with a .287 hitting percentage. She was coming off another solid performance in Tech’s mostprevious home match against Kansas when she finished with 25 kills and 15 digs in the match to lead Tech to a 3-2 victory. This was a gutsy performance that came only days after injuring her ankle in Tech’s loss to Baylor. Amanda’s three other doubledoubles had come against Texas State, Northeastern, and Oklahoma. Dowdy came close to adding another double-double against Texas, connecting on 12 kills with nine digs. She recorded her ninth double-double of the year at Colorado with 34 kills and 14 digs as she moved over the 1,000 career kill mark against the Buffaloes.

Dowdy finished second in the Big 12 in kills per set; fourth for points per set; second in the conference in kills per set for conference matches only; third in points per set in Big 12 matches.

Amanda will enter 2011 fifth on Texas Tech’s career chart for kills and sixth for career attempts. She finished sixth for single-season attempts and 10th in kills in the Tech record book ... Academic All- Big 12 first team ... All-Big 12 first team selection. Dowdy was Tech’s first player named to the first team since 2002.

At Lexington, Dowdy competed in volleyball, basketball, tennis and track & field. She was named all-district newcomer of the year, all-district player of the year, alldistrict offensive player of the year, and all-district MVP in basketball during her four years. Amanda was a regional qualifier in the 400M and high jump as a sophomore, was regional champion in the high jump and state runner-up as a junior, and regional and state champion as a senior. Amanda was also a twotime all- state and prep all- American honorable mention.
