Sports Thoughts……

by Mike Organ

The Aggies and Horns both lost their first round games at the College World Series. Both teams face elimination with the next loss unless they reach the championship game.

Do you think Milwaukee feels good about drafting Taylor Jungmann? After he was drafted, he has lost three games in a row. The third game, he only lasted 4 and 1/3 innings, his shortest stint of the year.

Bill Byrne has done wonders at A&M in hiring coaches. The Aggies have won a national championship in Track and Field, girls’ basketball, had a softball team in the final eight, the baseball team is in the CWS, and the football team is headed upward. He has done this without breaking the bank like DeLoss Dodd at Texas. Do you think the Aggie coaches are paid as much as the Horn mentors? Do you think Gary Blair makes as much as Gail Gestenkors?

A couple of Lexington coaches have left for what they perceive as greener pastures. Coach Holcomb already has one spot filled according to our passing conversation.

It is nice to hear our baseballers doing well in the All-star games. I hope our youngsters in the Little League games do well also. The playoffs will start after July 4th.

Summer has just started and football practice is just five weeks away. Volleyball, too. Summers are way too short these days and way tooooooo hot.
