Sports Thoughts……..

by Mike Organ

The ‘experts’ have been proven wrong as the Mavericks beat the Heat in Miami to win the NBA championship. The all-knowing said the Heat would win in four or five games. Oops, they made a miss call just like I did about UT.

I thought UT would fold in the elimination game at the Regional last week. They did not. They rallied to win the Regional. This week they lost the first game against Arizona State and they won two straight with their backs against the wall to advance to the College World Series. I am glad they proved me wrong.

The Aggies won game one against Florida State 6-2 but got blasted Sunday in game two 23-9. The winner of Monday’s game 3 will advance to the CWS.

The Eagles had great representation on the all-district baseball team. Just one problem, five of the eight receiving honors graduated. Good coaching and a good program developed by the community will make the transition to new players easy and winning.

Congratulations to the Cameron Yoemen for winning the state 2A baseball championship. This is the same team that needed 11 innings to defeat our Lexington Eagles. That is how good the Eagles and District 27-AA was. The District 27 MVP, Zach Brashear, was also the MVP of the state tourney.

Football fans, Texas Football hits the newsstands on June 15th. Get your money ready and be early or you might have to wait for a copy.
