Geneva Pearl Becvar
Geneva Pearl Cottrell was born on January 29, 1921 in Dime Box, Texas to John & Mary Ann (Blaha) Cottrell. She was united in marriage to Alois A. Becvar on July 25, 1945 and was a retired Dietitian having worked at NASA during the Apollo Mission and also at a bank in Houston. Geneva was an amazing cook and could make almost anything grow. She loved her grandchildren and the summers they spent together. She loved her church and enjoyed taking an active part in it. She also enjoyed helping others and taking care of her dogs.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Lillian Sekell, Mary Jane Spacek, Ola Mae Sullivan and Bertha Goodson and three brothers, John Cottrell, William Cottrell and James Lamar Cottrell.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Becvar of Dime Box; her son, Arte & Paulette Becvar of Burnet; five grandchildren, Richard & Carla Becvar of Washington, Shannon Krustchinsky of Ft. Worth, Pam & Kord Kothmann of Dime Box, Kendra & Scott Wendell of Ft. Worth and Ashley Becvar of Plano; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and her church family at the Dime Box Brethren Church.
Funeral services for Geneva Becvar, 90 of Dime Box, Texas, were held at 10: 00 a. m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Hranice Cemetery in Dime Box with Jim Heckman officiating. Visitation was held Friday from 8: 00 a. m. until 9: 00 p. m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with the family being present form 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Sisters at the Dime Box Brethren Church or the charity of one’s choice.
