The teams that made the 2A state baseball tourney: Palmer, Bushland, Central Heights, and Cameron, are all big schools. Palmer, Bushland, and Cameron played in 2A-Division I football. Central Heights does not play football. All four teams in Class A played in the Division I. Is it possible the UIL needs to separate the baseball and basketball districts the same way they have done for football? The athletes in these ‘other’ sports need the same break as football.
Have I messed up my calendar? It was 102 Sunday according to the thermometer in my truck. This is July or August weather. What is it going to be like in two months?
The Eagle coaches are opening the gym daily for the athletes to work out and maintain their physical fitness all summer. It seems like a lot, but you have to stay fit to compete these days. It is not like the old days when you just played football, basketball, baseball, or tennis.
How are the budget cuts going to affect Lexington athletics? Only time will tell. I think they will get by with losing only one position.
