Survivor Lap Kicks Off Relay for Life
Friday, June 10, at the Giddings High School Buffalo Stadium, the Lee County Relay for Life will begin at 7 p.m. with the Survivor Lap. After that the Luminaria ceremony will take place. Teams are asked to have one person walking at all times.
After dark, people who have been touched by cancer are honored and loved ones lost to the disease are remembered during the Luminaria Ceremony. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand with each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer.
All money raised from the event will go to the American Cancer Society to help fund research, education programs and other services.
