The Lee County Family Health Fair will be Thursday, June 9, in Giddings at the Old Elementary Cafeteria, between 9 am and 12 noon. Admission is free. A Health Walk will be held between 8 am and 9 am; registration begins at 7:30 am. The old Giddings Elementary is at the corner of East Industry and South Williams.

The Health Fair is open to all citizens in and around Lee County. Light refreshments will be provided by Brookshire Brothers, Fresh Donuts and Reba’s. The Lee County Health Expo is hosted by the Lee County office of Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Combined Community Action and Country CarePlex.

Visitors can be screened for cholesterol and glucose; these tests require morning fasting. Other screenings and tests available include: blood pressure, body mass index, grip strength testing, measure body fat and pulse oximetry. Information will also be available regarding Alzheimer’s and dementia, cancer awareness prevention and services, bereavement services, diabetes information, family counseling, home health care, hospice services and physical therapy.

Individuals with disabilities who plan to attend and who may need auxiliary aids, services or accommodations must contact the Lee County Extension office five days prior to the event so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
