John Boyd Butterwick
John Boyd Butterwick was born on February 28, 1943 in Washington D. C. to Richard Ward & Lois Daphne (Boyd) Butterwick. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and obtained the rank of Private First Class before receiving his Honorable Discharge on January 27, 1965. John was united in marriage to Suzanne Willingham on September 9, 1966 in Houston, Texas. He was a retired telephone engineer with Southwestern Bell in Houston and an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Giddings. John enjoyed woodworking, furniture building, reading, gardening, photography, camping and hiking.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Suzanne Butterwick of Ledbetter; daughter, Julie & Tracy Fielder of Houston; son, John D. & Dawn Butterwick of Houston; granddaughter, Sierra Butterwick of Houston; grandson, Austen Fielder of Houston; brother, Dan & Jan Butterwick of Houston; sister, Mary Lois & Tom Daniel of San Francisco and a niece, Katy & Jamie Gonzales of Houston.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church located at 279 Monroe Street in Giddings, Texas. Burial was private at the Houston National Cemetery.
