Special City Council Meeting
The Lexington City Council met in a Special Meeting on Thursday, May 26. One of the items on the agenda was to “ Discuss Enforcement Action by TCEQ, including penalties, steps to reach compliance and options allowed under the same.” According to Greg Langehennig, City Council Member, the discussion concerning this item focused on three options the City had been given by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for a penalty dealing with improper reporting on the City’s sewer system. The options included the City making a donation to Barton Springs River Authority, the San Marcos River Authority or to paying a penalty to the State. Tim Brown made a motion to pay the fine.
The City Council tabled discussion on another agenda item that involved hiring someone to investigate complaints against the police department.
They accepted the resignation of Mickey Milburn as the city’s Meter Reader and moved on a motion by Greg Langehennig to use a public works employee as the Meter Reader for the time being.
