Country Music Monday

A line up of six well known Country Western musicians are scheduled for the June 6th Country Music Monday program sponsored on the first Monday of each month by the Rotary Club of Giddings. Several of the performers have been on the Rotary Club stage in previous months and others will be new to the June 6th audience.

Margie LeBlanc has been singing since her third birthday when she sang “How Much Is That Doggie In the Window?” on the “Little Miss Muffin Show” in New Orleans. Throughout her childhood years she performed on many different radio and stage shows with well known personalities as B.J. Johnson, Jimmy Clanton, Hank Thompson and Joe Reichmann and his Orchestra, performing in the Blue Room of the Roosevelt Hotel. She has been a popular singer in demand by her many fans. She has traveled the road through the Southeast part of our land including Nashville where she shared the stage with notables as Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, and Gene Watson. She has done equally well on European radio receiving numerous requests from many countries for her CD’s to be aired on their stations.

She stepped out of the limelight while raising her three children. However, she continued to perform for the less fortunate, the elderly, the sick and more benefit shows for fellow musicians. She is back traveling the Opry Circuits in LA, MS, TX and Florida and cutting new CD’s to fill the requests of her European friends. Her voice is strong and true, but most of all comes directly from her heart to the delight of her audiences.

Joel Warren is a second generation rancher and steer wrestler but has a second career singing traditional country music with the tone and gusto of a polished musician. His singing career actually began as a young child when he impersonated Elvis Presley. From singing contests and opening nights from Nebraska, Tennessee, to Texas, writing songs, making albums, and emphasizing his lifestyle and beliefs in his music, he has developed faithful fans that enjoy his traditional country music. Musical artists as George Strait, Garth Brooks, and Chris LeDoux have influenced his singing style and he is excited to travel across the country, visiting radio stations, playing opry’s and connecting with all his fans. He hangs his hat in Austin but will be an important part of the Country Music Monday Show.

Joining Margie LeBlanc and Joel Warren will be Ken Brothers, Sally Carlson, Gene Hendricks, George Chambers and the regular Country Music Monday Band. Show time is 7:00 p.m. on June 6th, at the New Giddings High School Cafetorium on Highway 77 North of Giddings. Admission is $5.00. Food is available and Rotarians are quick to assist in parking cars.
