Ruth Lillian Galipp

April 23, 1918 - May 20, 2011

Mrs. Galipp passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011 at her home in Ledbetter.

Ruth Lillian Pietsch Galipp was born on April 23, 1918 in Warda, Texas to John & Selma (Lorenz) Pietsch. She was baptized on May 5, 1918 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda by Rev. Buchschacher and confirmed on March 20, 1932 also at Holy Cross Lutheran Church by Rev. Paul C. Eifert. Ruth married Otto Ernest Galipp on April 11, 1943 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul C. Eifert officiating. She and Otto lived in Houston for many years and moved back to Lee County after Otto’s retirement in 1976. Ruth was a homemaker and had been an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Selma Pietsch; her husband of nearly 62 years, Otto Galipp; son-in-law, John Polson; two brothers, Johnnie Pietsch & Ben Pietsch and three sisters, Elsie Lehmann, Millie Bohot, and Esther Jurk.

She is survived by her daughter and son- in- law, Sharon & Michael Knight of Ledbetter; her son, Russell Galipp of Ledbetter; four grandchildren, Russell “Donny” Galipp Jr. of College Station, Tiffany Kalbas of Abilene, Chase & Jolie Polson of Killeen and Ashton Polson of College Station; three great grandchildren, Cameron, Clayton & Conner Kalbas all of Serbin; sister, Lorine Wisniski of Houston; sister- in- law, Lena Pietsch of Giddings and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruth Galipp, 93 of Ledbetter, Texas, were held at 2: 00 p. m. on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings Memorial Park. Visitation was held Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Kingsbery, William Jurk, Allan Jurk, Russell Jurk, Robert Jurk and Ray Wisniski.

Memorials may be given to Brazos Valley Hospice.
