Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

Sports is over for another school year. Now we can concentrate on the Little Leaguers, pros, and start prognosticating about the fall.

The Aggies did it right in hiring a coach from a mid-major. Instead of trying to lure an established coach, they went to an upwardly mobile coach with a good past and promising future.

An interesting poll in the news last week showed Mac Brown and Gail Gestenkors under pressure to win at UT next season. It implied their jobs could be in jeopardy.

The Astros are living up to preseason predictions of having one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball. Fans are staying away in record numbers.

The Rangers started fast and then injuries started taking a toll on their pitching staff and position players.

Where will the Eagles be ranked in preseason predictions? We will be finding out soon.

The Idalou high jumper cleared 7’ in the class 2A high jump and got second!!!! Track is experiencing a decrease in the number of participants, but the quality is certainly not suffering.

Congratulations to Cameron for winning the state title in girl’s track and finishing third in the boy’s division. It makes ‘our’ district look very good.
