Earlene “Kay” Jaster Noyes

March 27, 1925 - May 11, 2011

Kay Jaster Noyes, 86, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, top ranked real estate salesperson, passed away on Wednesday, May 11th, 2011 at her home in Corpus Christi.

She was born March 27,1925 in Giddings, Texas to Mr. & Mrs. Arthur J. Jaster. She met her future husband in Austin while he was at the UT Law School and she was completing her Bachelor of Science degree. She completed her degree in Home Economics and was a member of Mortar Board, and Omicron Nu. She married Jonathan Howard Noyes on October 30, 1948 and settled in Austin. The Noyes then settled in San Antonio and had 4 children before moving to Corpus ten years later to settle down and have one more child.

For more than 50 years— they made Corpus Christi their home— raising five children and being active in the community. Her home and family were the center of her life. Kay’s interests were diverse and included bridge and sewing groups, AAUW Book Finders, tennis, community concerts, the Corpus Christi symphony, and all the many activities in which her children were involved. For more than 50 years she was an active member and leader in St. Mark’s Lutheran church.

After raising her children, Kay turned her love, compassion, patience and interest in others to helping them find and develop their perfect nest. Whether she showed one home or one hundred homes to a family, she always had faith they would find just the right place. And when they did, she would be sure to find them the perfect plant to start their garden, because gardening was another passion. She appreciated others gardens as much as her own and always seemed to have ‘starter plants’ underway. She developed the habit of finding the best in each person and finding the silver linings whenever possible. When her eldest son, Tim, died suddenly, she felt the need for Compassionate Friends and helped found the chapter in Corpus Christi. This group for grieving parents still meets at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church the first Thursday of each month.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Emma Jaster; her husband, Jonathan Noyes; her brother, Jake Jaster; and her son, Timothy Noyes.

She is survived by her children Joan Noyce of Corvallis, Oregon; J. C. Noyes ( Pat) of Kenedy, Texas; Susan Upshaw of Corpus Christi, and Margie Donohue(Jim) of Coppell, Texas; grandchildren Michael and Braden of Corvallis, Oregon; JT and Walker Upshaw of Corpus Christi; Timothy and Christy Noyes of Kingsville, and Mary and Emma Donohue of Coppell, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 4620 S. Alameda, from 12 noon until service time on Friday, May 13, 2011. A Funeral Service was held at 2: 00 p. m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on Friday, May 13, 2011.

Interment was held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings, Texas at 1:00 p.m.

Arrangements entrusted to Seaside Funeral Home, 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78412 (361) 992-9411
