Linda Jean Flippo

January 18, 1953 - May 8, 2011

Linda passed away at her home in Giddings during the early morning hours of Sunday, May 8, 2011.

Linda Jean Posas Flippo was born on January 18, 1953 in Sinton, Texas to Eduardo “Edward” Uehlinger Posas Sr. & Julia (Maldonado) Posas. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1972 and attended Texas State University. Linda married Jerry Flippo on June 21, 1979 in Giddings and was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. She had worked as a houseparent at the Giddings State School before becoming an ESL instructor with the JTPA Program where she taught English to Spanish speaking students. Linda was also a loving and devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, shopping, talking on the phone with family and friends, dancing and helping others in whatever way she could.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother- in- law, Minerva “Minnie” and Kerry Urban Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Flippo of Giddings; her three daughters, Juanita Posas & Manuel Rios of Giddings, Melinda & Anthony Basquez of Giddings and Jeri Lyn Flippo of Giddings; seven grandchildren, Brittney Rios, Brianna Rios, Marina Rios, Mallory Basquez, Marcus Basquez, Jose Rojas III and Alexia Garcia all of Giddings; three sisters, Rosie & Daniel Harney of Smithville, Mary Ann & Patrick Machala of Plum and Veronica Posas-Reyna & J.R. Reyna of Victoria; four brothers, Edward Posas Jr. & Jo Helen of La Grange, David Posas Sr. & Mary of Giddings, Pete “Tootie” Posas Sr. & Wanona of Giddings and Joe Posas of Giddings; parents-in-law, A.C. & Josie Flippo of Giddings; three sisters-in-law, Debbie & Ralph Domel of Schertz, Mary & Douglas Jatzlau of Giddings and Wanda Mertink of Giddings; brother-in-law, Terry & Beatrice Flippo of Smithville, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Linda Posas Flippo, 58 of Giddings, were held at 10: 00 a. m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Giddings with Father Jim Olnhausen officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. A Rosary was recited Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers were Edward Posas Jr., David Posas Sr., Pete Posas Sr., Joe Posas, Kerry Urban Jr., Tommy Juarez, Manuel Rios and Anthony Basquez.

Memorials may be made to the St. Margaret’s Catholic Church CCD Building Fund.
