Franklin Tops Eagles 8-3
Lexington traveled to Franklin Friday afternoon for a warm up game with the highly ranked Lions. The young Eagles played very well in defeat. They got some good pitching performances from Kaelan Blok and Chase Hibbeler. Dylan Iselt found his homerun stroke and Blok got three hits in a losing effort.
Donnie Havard continued to hit the ball as he opened the game with a single, stole second, and scored on Tyler Meorbe’s single to give Lexington a 1-0 lead. Lexington extended the lead to 2- 0 in the third inning when Lane Turner walked to lead off. Collin Wiggins, running for Turner, stole second and came home on a Blok single.
There were some Lions on the prowl as Franklin sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the third, scoring four runs to permanently take the lead.
Lexington closed to within one as Iselt hit his solo dinger in the top of the fourth. Again Franklin roared back with three tallies in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 7-3. One more Franklin run in the fifth concluded all the scoring for the night.
