Lexington Native Publishes First Novel

Sheryl Kleinschmidt, who grew up and lived most of her life in Lexington, has published her first novel. Rest in PEACE on the Yegua is set in Lee County and has many familiar settings to people in this area. The novel, which will tug at your heartstrings, is a mystery involving the burial of a woman’s husband over a sacred Indian Burial Ground and the mysteries, intrigue and romance that followed.

A retired school teacher, Sheryl was raised not many miles from the Yegua Creek. Early interests included hunting for arrowheads and other Indian artifacts around the state, as well as studying various Indian groups. While doing research for the Lexington Leader many years ago, she was fortunate enough to spend a couple of days with professional archaeologists working a site on the Yegua, which gave her background for this novel.

The book can be purchased at several local businesses and, with any luck at all, we’ll be able to get Sheryl down for a book signing in the near future.
