After the game in Thorndale Thursday night, one of the “rightfield rowdies” hollered, “Mike Organ you can’t say the officials cost you the game tonight”. To his credit, he was absolutely correct. The umpires for the game did an excellent job of officiating the game. There were no complaints by the coaches during the game, just the usual fan mouthing by both sides.
The Eagles received a gift Friday night when Florence beat Rogers 8-7 to move Rogers to third place in the standings. When you read this, you will know whether the Eagles beat Florence Monday afternoon and kept second place seeding.
The Lady Eagles will have played Academy for the second and third place representation. The game site of Granger is a little confusing, but somewhat neutral for both teams. Which is the easiest route to the state tourney? Either way because you have to beat the best to be the best.
I understand Marley Ross is out of the hospital and will try to make the game in Granger on Monday. It should be quite an emotional lift for the Lady Eagles.
An interesting phenomenon happened at Thorndale. The flag in left field was blowing north, the US flag in centerfield was blowing northwest and the flag in right field was blowing due west. The wind was high and swirling the whole game. Both teams did an excellent job of adjusting to the weather conditions.
