Local Student to Compete in Junior (Olympic) National Volleyball Championship
Brazos Valley Juniors (BVJ) 13 Mizuno volleyball team continued their winning streak by bringing home gold medals in TWO National Qualifiers and securing a bid to the Junior (Olympic) National Championships in Atlanta! The team went undefeated and finished 1st place out of 35 teams in the MidEast National Qualifier in St. Louis on Sunday, March 20 and finished 1st place out of 107 teams in the Lone Star Classic Qualifier in Dallas on Sunday, April 17. This is the first time in the history of BVJ’s 15 years to have a team win two National Qualifiers in one season.
Lexington 7th grade student, Karsen Ross, is captain and setter of this elite team. This will be her third consecutive year to qualify and compete in the Junior (Olympic) National Tournament with Brazos Valley Juniors.
“ This is a tremendous accomplishment for the team and for our club, as less than 5% of the club volleyball teams in the country earn the right to attend the USA Volleyball National Tournament,” said head coach and club director Jacky Pence.
The BVJ 13 Mizuno Team will travel to Orlando on June 15-18 and they will finish their season at the USAV Girls’ Junior National Championships on June 26-29 in Atlanta.
