Ruth Knippa Zoch

October 5, 1926 - April 19, 2011

Ruth passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her home in Giddings.

Ruth Lydia Marie Knippa Zoch was born on October 5, 1926 in Lexington, Texas to Paul H. Knippa Sr. & Ella (Patschke) Knippa. She was baptized on October 31, 1926 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington by Rev. E. Steyer and confirmed on March 17, 1940 by Rev. George Kautz also at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington. Her confirmation verse was John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Ruth was united in marriage to Arthur Zoch on July 23, 1966 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Emil F. Krugler. She was retired from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative in Giddings where she had been employed as a secretary in the Engineering Department for many years. Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings and enjoyed bowling. She was the official scorekeeper for many of the bowling teams at Leesure Lanes in Giddings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; stepson, Gerald Zoch; two brothers, Franklin Knippa and Paul Knippa Jr.; sister, Anita Marburger and a nephew, David Marburger.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Doris Wren of Lexington; two step-sons, James Zoch of Austin and L.A. Zoch of Giddings; stepdaughter in-law, Marilyn (Zoch) Davis & her husband, Terry of Giddings and several stepgrandchildren, step- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruth Zoch, 84 of Giddings, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. until 8: 30 a. m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Serving as pallbearers were L.A. Zoch, James Zoch, Bradley Knippa, Gene Urban, Curtis Wren, Michael Wren, Rodney Wren and Byron Wren.
